About selfiedesk
Who runs it
One independent developer builds and maintains selfiedesk as a personal project. There is no company behind it.
What it is for
There are two photo makers:
- Passport and ID photo maker: passport, visa, ID card, driving licence and résumé photos for 13 countries, the Schengen area and common sizes, with checks, retake advice, files for online applications and print sheets.
- Profile picture maker: profile pictures with photo and studio backgrounds, natural touch-ups, outfits and moods, sized for messengers, feeds, stories and phone wallpapers.
Your photo stays with you
Both makers work inside your web browser. Your photo is processed on your phone or computer, is never uploaded and never reaches us.
No account, no watermark, no daily limit.
How the ID photo rules are checked
In October 2026 every photo size, head height, background and file limit was compared with the official page the maker links to, for example travel.state.gov, gov.uk and the Korean passport and driving licence offices. Sizes that no office sets officially are marked as customary. If a rule has changed or something is wrong, please write to contact@selfiedesk.com so it can be fixed.
Browsers and languages
Use a current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on a computer or phone. The AI models need WebAssembly SIMD, which on iPhone and iPad means iOS 16.4 or later.
Seven languages: English, Korean, Japanese, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
AI models and photos used
The makers rely on open-source AI models that were converted for the browser. They are served from this site along with their licences:

- Background photos are CC0 or public-domain images from Wikimedia Commons; the profile picture maker shows the author and source of each one.
